Paved stone path or footpath on a hill in the countryside. Near the top of Mam Tor, Derbyshire, Peak District National Park, England, UK

This image is exclusive to Alamy. Mam Tor is a 517 m (1,696 ft) hill at the western end of the Great Ridge that separates Edale from Castleton. It is also known as the Shivering Mountain on account of the instability of its lower shale layers. Mam Tor is popular because it offers great views of the surrounding countryside while also being easy to walk to. It is also a popular place for hang gliding and similar air sports. It is due to this popularity that this stone path, and others on the Great Ridge, were built to prevent heavy erosion by walkers.
