Meki Town Market, Ethiopia, October 2013 Ifa Abe, 27, and Guma Oda, 25, have been cutting wood in the forest in one particular area for the last year. Ifa says, ‘It's two days work to fill the donkey cart and a 50km walk to the market. The amount of wood in the forest is diminishing – many people are engaged in the same kind of work. With sufficient rainfall I could earn a living from growing maize and wheat on my land. Right now I have to do this work to survive.’
