Japanese astronaut Yamazaki, mission STS-131, 2010. Japanese astronaut Naoko Yamazaki (born 1970) is representing the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) as STS-131 mission specialist. Here, she is on the flight deck of space shuttle Discovery during post-launch activities. Mission STS-131 took place from 5-20 April 2010. This mission, part of assembling the International Space Station (ISS), was Yamazaki's first and only flight into space. Yamazaki retired from astronaut duty in 2011. Photographed on 5 April 2010.
