View SE of the horned forecourt & false entrance at the N end of Belas Knap Neolithic long barrow, Gloucestershire, England, UK. A Cotswold-Severn chambered tomb with a sloping wedge-shaped mound aligned N-S. The remains of over 30 people were found in the four lateral burial chambers: one in the narrow S end, one in the E side near the S end, & two opposed chambers near the centre of the E & W sides. Excavated in 1863, excavated again & restored 1929-30. All but the upper portions of the drystone walling of the forecourt is original Neolithic work. The false entrance resembles the H-shaped settings seen at the front of Neolithic portal dolmens.
