Eurostar train enters the Medway tunnel on the High Speed One (the Channel Tunnel Rail Link) in Southern England.

The Eurostar high-speed train was born as a result of the Channel Tunnel project. The 67 mile(108km) High Speed 1, formerly the Channel Tunnel Rail Link from the Channel Tunnel to London is the UK's first new railway line for a hundred years making possible 2-hour trips from London to Brussels and 2 hour 15 minute trips to Paris. The HS1 hugs the existing traffic corridor through Kent, ploughs on through the shifting silt and clay beds of the Thames flood plain and travels through tunnels under London to its destination at St Pancras Station. 8000 international staff worked for 7 years to make this project a reality
