Beginning of the Office of the Dead, Psalm 114. Death, shown as a skeleton wearing a black sash and carrying a scythe, standing in a chapel. Borders are decorated with skulls, bones and snakes, also tiara, crown and mitres. At bottom is a medallion showing the resurrection of the dead at the Day of Judgement. Taken from ‘Mirandola Hours’, published in Italy circa 1490-1499, and made for Galeotto Pico della Mirandola.
