The Red Necked Phalarope is a dainty little wader often seen swimming around in small circles to bring food to the surface of shallow is a rare breeding bird in Britain with just a few pairs nesting on Scottish islands. The roles of the sexes of Phalaropes is reversed with the females being more brightly coloured than the males,and once she has laid her eggs,she leaves the male to incubate the eggs and raise the young.
