Statue of Dutch politician and statesman Johan Rudolph Thorbecke (1798-1872) by Ferdinand Leenhoff, at Thorbeckeplein, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

This is a statue of 19th-century statesman Johan Rudolph Thorbecke that faces Herengracht at the south end of the square by the same name. The monument is the work of Dutch sculptor Ferdinand Leenhoff and was erected here in 1876. Here you see a middle aged Thorbecke dressed in stately attire. He clutches a rolled up manuscript in his left hand while his right rests upon a small pillar. The bronze figure stands upon a tall rectangular shaped pedestal with the gold inscription of his name in front. Beyond the statue is a tree lined square with restaurants on both sides. At the back of Thorbeckeplein, you'll find Rembrandtplein.
