A 19th century view of the Auld Brig of Ayr built in 1470 across the River Ayr, Ayr, Scotland replaced the Timber Bridge from the 1200s. Robert Burns, wrote it would still be standing when the New Brig (built in his lifetime) was reduced to a "shapeless cairn (stone heap)". The so-called New Brig came down and was replaced in the 19th century, whilst the Auld Brig remains and is one of the oldest stone bridges in Scotland.
