The genus comprises only one species, also found in Denmark. 1. S. pallida Loew. 1858. Loew, Zeitschi'. fiir gesammt. Naturw. XI, 455, et 1871. Beschr. eur. Dipt. II, 253, 138. — Kat. palåarkt. Dipt. II, 267. Male. Vertex and frons somewhat dark yellow, the ocellar triangle grey; epistoma, proboscis and palpi yellow. Occiput yellow with short hairs. Antennæ short, yellow, darker towards the apex; the third joint pointed ovate, compressed, with a short style. Thorax yellow, with an indication of four, slightly darker stripes; it is very short and sparingly haired. Scutellum with short, yellow marginal bristles. Pleura yellow. Abdomen likewise yellow, with short, yellow hairs. Venter yellow. Exterior genitalia large; the lower lamellæ directed upwards and with a vertical impression, indicating a division into two lobes, the posterior of these is the highest and above it is drawn out into a forwards pointing process; the upper lamellæ are some- what triangular, pointing forwards in over abdomen and with a little tooth in the upper margin. Penis is very thick, curved upwards and forwards. Legs yellow, very short-haired with yellow hairs. Wings 15*
