An Italian small-sword with chiselled hilt, circa 1570 Double-edged, somewhat pitted blade of flattened hexagonal section with a short fuller and a brass-inlaid wolf on the obverse side. Struck Pi-marks and the stamp of the City of Nave (Upper Italy) at the ricasso. Iron hilt chiselled in relief with a pas d'âne and vestiges of (later) gold paint. Lavish (renewed?) grip wrap of copper and brass wire with Turk's heads.
