A number of subcellular organelles can be seen including part of the nucleus which contains DNA, the nuclear membrane and nuclear pores that form a channel in the nuclear envelope to allow for the regulation of the transportation of molecules between the nucleus and the cytoplasm of the cell. Also seen are the Golgi complex, which has a number of functions including the modification and sorting of proteins for secretion, rough endoplasmic reticulum, which produce and transport proteins within the cell, and mitochondria, take in nutrients from the cell and convert it into energy. Magnification: x35000 when printed at 10cm wide.
