Mandibular palp three-segmented; molar slender andspike-like on one side, absent on other. Maxilliped five-segmented, enditepresent. Pereopods 1-3 subsimilar, barely subchelate. Pereopods 4-7 withrectangular carpus. Pleopod 1 exopod and endopod together formingoperculum. Pleonites 1-5 fused; pleonite 6 fused with telson. Telson with basalstatocysts. Integument pitted. Type species Apanthuroides millae Menzies & Glynn, 1968. Remarks Re-examination of the types of Apanthuroides millae from Puerto Rico,and fresh material from Belize, Central America, has shown that the pleonalsegmentation, and especially the unusual mandibular structure, is identical tothat of Natalanthura.
