Confiscated planks of endanged Mulanje Cedar wood, Widdringtonia whytei, confiscated by Deparment of Foresty, Mount Mulanje, Southern District, Malawi

The Mulanje Cedar, Widdringtonia whytei, is the national tree of Malawi but is critically endangered due to its small habitat on a single mountain, and tree poaching for its valuable fragrant wood used in construction and wood-working is rife; occasionally the Department of Forestry confiscated wood from tree poachers and locks it up.
