Paternoster statue by Elisabeth Frink ( 1930 - 1993) Elisabeth Frink's statue of shepherd and his sheep stands in Paternoster Square as an antithesis against the modern architecture surrounding it. The area just north of St Paul's Cathedral was devastated by the Blitz in 1942 and for decades was the topic of heated debates how to develop the prestige area. The present office blocks were built in 2003 and Frink's statue, unveiled in the square already in 1975, brings it both religious and historical dimensions.
