Banana, Musa acuminata. Native to Southern Asia, cultivated as dessert bananas. The Cavendish plantain, Musa cavendishii. Named for William Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire, whose gardener Sir Joseph Paxton cultivated them in the hothouse at Chatsworth House.
