On the first trial,playing horizontally, the steamer threw a stream over one hundred andeighty-two feet, while the exempts reached one hundred and eighty-ninefeet. The second trial on the same conditions had the same result. Prepara-tions were made for a third trial, this time perpendicularly, and when thestreams were directed to the figure of Justice on the cupola of the City Hall,Zophar Mills and John W.
