Fig. ] The Barred Wagtail {JMotacilla luguhris) The Wagtail, or Dishwasher {MotacUla Juf/nhris), is a type of an almost exclusively Old-World group of Birds —Wagtails or Pipits—consisting of about sixty-four species, one section of which is very like our Wagtail, while another resembles our Meadow Pipit (Anthtis pratemis), which is to be seen on com- mons and waste grounds all the year round.
