In smear preparations the Koch-Weeks bacilli are, as a rule, seenalone or associated with isolated cocci and bacilli, especially xerosisbacilli. They are not infrequently observed within the cells, andare very rarely associated with gonococci and pncumococci, suchmixed infections being extremely uncommon. Biological Characters.—The Koch-Weeks bacillus grows only attemperatures near to 37° C. Of the ordinary culture media none butmoist and slightly alkaline peptone agar can be employed. The bestresults have been obtained with serum agar or a mixture of glyc
