Hasting Hill Round Barrow, Tyne and Wear.

Hasting Hill, where a burial ground used by prehistoric man in about 2400-1500 BC. It was excavated in 1911. Several cists were discovered during the excavation, with one containing the remains of a man, a flint knife and an earthenware food vessel. Notes: the hill is in very poor condition, vandalized to the extreme, rubbish, fires, diggings and a large volume of motor bikes cutting a deep trench right across the middle of the barrow, this is exposing the hill to erosion and destroying anything that still might lay under the soil. Well that’s Sunderland for you.
