Croydon Kensit Crusade: early 20th century photograph of four smartly dressed men with a religious banner. John Kensit (1853-1902) was the founder of the Protestant Truth Society and campaigned against Anglo-Catholicism and 'ritualism' in the Church of England. The banner includes "Kensit's dying message "No Compromise"", an illustration of Hugh Latimer being burnt at the stake ("Latimer's Candle"), and the caption "Protestants!!! Stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made you free"
