The Pilgrim Monument, commemorating the Mayflower’s first landing in 1620, before the Pilgrims headed to Plymouth, Provincetown, Cape Cod, MA.

The Pilgrim Monument is seen above the rooftops of Provincetown, located at the very tip of Cape Cod, MA. Ptown, as it is also affectionately known. The Pilgrim Monument built in 1892 is a Cape Cod landmark. It commemorates the Mayflower Pilgrims’ first landing in the "New World" in 1620. They landed in Provincetown, at the very tip of Cape Cod and spent 5 weeks there, drafted and signed the Mayflower Compact, before sailing to Plymouth. Shown here near Labor Day, known as the shoulder season, the early fall is a great time to visit. Crowds are fewer, the water is at its warmest, and the weather is usually lovely.
