Sarcophagus: Chernobyl Nuclear Site, Ukraine. After the disaster in 1986, the radio active material was eventually covered in a thick concrete said the tomb would be safe for 30 years. 29 years later this image was taken. A new sarcogphagus was being built. But there was no Soviet Union to pay. This huge structure was created on tracks, so that when finished it could entomb the dangerous material next to Reactor 4. This is taking place just a couple of km from the deserted Atomic City of Pripryat which was once home to 50,000 people. Former Soviet Union, a world changing event.
