When should The Bride and Peach Blossom, of the nanus type of gladioli, be planted for forcing! Any informa- tion will be appreciated. A. A. S.—Mass. Bulbs of Peach Blossom and The Bride gladioli are just coming to hand, and the sooner they can be planted the better. They succeed well in flats con- taining four inches of soil. A flat 12x24 inches will hold seventy-five bulbs. The bulbs also may be grown in benches, but when they are in flats they can be started in a cool pit and can be advanced or retarded more easily as oc- casion requires. C. W. GLADIOLI FOR MEMORIAL. At what date should Gladiolus Peach Blossom and Blushing Bride be planted in a carnation house to have them in bloom for Decoration day? E. A. R.—III. Bulbs of these small-flowering gladioli usually arrive in October, but if planted by Christmas they will flower at the time mentioned. As these gladioli start to grow soon after being received, it is best not to keep them too long out of the soil. For various reasons I consider culture in flats containing five inclios of soil better than bench culture, as it is easy then to advance or retard them. ? C. W. PANAMA, THE PRIZE-WINNER.
