One of Detroits most beneficialcharities is the Thompson Homefor Old Ladies, named after Thompson, one of its larg-est benefactors. It is situated atthe corner of Cass and Hancockavenues, one block west of Wood-ward avenue. The House of Correction, one ofthe largest and best of its class, ison Russell street, five blocks northof Gratiot avenue.
