'The Barrière De Clichy, Or The Defense of Paris in 1814', (1896). When France was invaded in 1814, Marshal Moncey (1754-1842) fought the last battle for Paris on the heights of Montmartre and at the barrier of Clichy on 30 March. Moncey, (centre) gives his orders to Claude Odiot (1763-1850), goldsmith to Napoleon and his court, and colonel of the national guard. Engraving after the painting made in 1820 by Horace Vernet.
