This wonderful plant was first offered to the public last Spring under various names, such as " Chenille Plant," "Philippine ; '-Comet Plant," "Tassel Plant," and a half-dozen other names purely local. It is the most distinct and striking ornamental plant introduced in many years. It is a native of the South Sea Islands, and may well be called a forerunner of the rare and beautiful tropical plants from our new possessions in the Philippines.
