Merrick, who came here from New York a few weeks ago to open a sales office for the Lord & Burnham Co., in the Swetland building, opposite Hotel Statler, is busy making the ac- quaintance of local greenhouse men. He is an interesting talker, as he has had wide experience with greenhouse building in the east, and sees in this territory the opportunity for much busi- ness the next few years. BOSTON. The Market. Midsummer dullness now rules in the markets; prices are low and, except for occasional little spurts which clean up special flowers, there is little to chronicle. Conditions are considered bad, but are no worse than, if as bad as, those in July a year ago. Last week was remarkably cold for the sea- son, the temperature being down in the fifties each day. The night before the Fourth was the coldest in the history of the weather bureau. Fireworks were few, persons seen wore overcoats WASHINGTON D.
