(Oct. 11, 2017) Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Gilbert Umayam, from Whidbey Island, Wash., administers an influenza vaccination to Machinist's Mate 2nd Class Austin Arnold, from Denison, Texas, aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). The annual influenza vaccination program is used to both prevent influenza among the crew and rehearse procedures to vaccinate the entire crew in the event of an outbreak of a serious disease. John C. Stennis is in port training for future operations after completing flight deck certification and conducting carrier qualifications. (
