An 1842 caricature portrait of Hubert Collinet celebrated international soloist flageolet player. Hubert Collinet was the most highly regarded French flageolet virtuoso of his time and was probably the only flageolet player to achieve International fame. Being quite small in stature, he was often drawn, as in this caricature, with an instrument the same size as himself. In Britain Collinet visited England about 1819 and spent the 1820's and 1830's playing for society balls as well as with a number of different orchestras including the Quadrille Band at Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, London .
