Steve Hughes from Appleton, Warrington – a former soldier injured on an assault course with the Royal Artillery at 17 during training. He is now a wheelchair athlete and para sit skier who has completed Land’s End to John O’Groats in a manual wheelchair – a distance of 870 miles His injury caused complications to his spine and nerves and he has undergone numerous operations. the gunner was medically retired from the Army Before his injury he was a keen marathon runner. Now, apart from his physical issues he also suffers with his mental health For over two years his depression was affecting his life but Paralympic Champion Athlete and Gold Medallist, David Weir, gave him the inspiration to set up a fundraising page which raised enough money for a basic chair He is now part of the armed forces Para Snowsports team as a Sit Skier After a holiday in Jersey with “Holidays for Heroes” he has chosen this charity for his fundraising
