In the bedsat a distance from the overlying mass some relief could behad by the beds crumping up in front of the load. The rollsthus made would at the sliding plane be filled with brokenmaterial, and there would be a local thickening of the seriesalong the face of the overthrust mass. The folds at Canmoreare probably of this origin, but there are some in the beds atBankhead that can be directly traced to this cause. In theprospect work at the top of the hill half a mile north of themine. No. 3 seam apparently showed 100 feet of coal.
