Brain tumour. Coloured 3D computed tomography (CT) scan of a section through the head of a 37-year-old patient with a right vestibular schwannoma (acoustic neuroma). Schwannomas are benign (non-cancerous) tumours arising from the Schwann cells that form the myelin sheaths around nerve cells. Vestibular schwannomas are formed from the Schwann cells of the vestibulocochlear nerve.
