These buckets or carriers may also be utilizedfor conveying the ashes from the O HK g Fig. 112 is a sectional view of a vertical Cahallboiler with a Mansfield chain grate stoker, and Fig. 113shows the same stoker withdrawn from the boiler. The Coxe mechanical stoker operates upon the same MECHANICAL STOKERS 339 general principles as do those previously described,being of the chain grate type, but it has in addition aseries of air chambers just underneath the uppertraveling grate. These air chambers are made of sheetiron and are open at the top and provided with dampersfor regulating the air pressure for different sections ofthe grate. The air blast is supplied by a fan. Anotherfeatureof this stoker is a water chamber for the bottomsection of the grate to travel through on its return.
