Therehe attended the common schools in the acquirement of an education and spentthe first twenty-three years of his life. In 1884 he determined to try his fortunein the new world and crossed the Atlantic to the United States, locating in Mil-waukee, Wisconsin, where for three years he worked at the blacksmiths trade,which he had learned in his native land.
