A cub gets pawed AVIEMORE, SCOTLAND ADORABLE IMAGES show ten week old arctic fox siblings indulging in a pint-sized scrap. Images show the cutest arctic fox cubs sleeping, stretching and snuggling - before one feels its sibling is getting out of line and begins hitting it in the face, much to the rival cub?s dismay. Although the global population of Arctic foxes is currently stable, some regional populations are declining and are critically low. Regional threats include climate change, disease and exposure to toxic pollutants. The species is sadly unprotected throughout most of its range, however in Sweden, Finland, and Norway, Arctic foxes have been fully protected now for over 60 years. Arctic foxes are known for their thick white fur which helps them to cope with temperatures as low as -50 degrees Celsius, but cubs are born grey or brown for better camouflage during the summer months, and adults change their colouring with the seasons. These images were captured by photographer Mark Deans (36) from Aberdeen, Scotland using a Canon D6 with a sigma 150-600 mm lens hand held. Mark captured the new cubs at Highland Wildlife Park in Aviemore in Scotland, who insisted the encounter was a real treat as the new additions had just began exploring the enclosure with parents Sarah and Jack. ?There were five little cubs all jumping around and playing and then sleeping,? said Mark. ?I love it when I get shots like these due to the nature of the wildlife photos that I do I think it's amazing to see and a picture lasts a lifetime. ?They were ten weeks old - real little balls of grey fur. ?My favourite image is the one eye just looking over the rock and no more, fighting sleep but still keeping an eye out for you. ?This shoot was such a joy. I?ve never seen Arctic fox cubs before, I feel very ENDS
