Loch Laggan Inverness-shire
The loch boasts the largest fresh water beach in the country and, on its southern shore, the major location of the series, the splendid Victorian Lodge House of Ardverikie. Queen Victoria spent her first long highland holiday here in1847 but (allegedly) was driven to distraction by the midges. Many scenes from Monarch of the Glen have been filmed at at various locations along the south side of Loch Laggan around Ardverikie House or in it's surrounding estate.
