Jules Mattsson, NUJ press photographer, is treated for burns after being assaulted whilst covering the East London EDL protest.
Photojournalism from East London static protest held by EDL supporters and members at Aldgate Station, as well as the UAF counter-protests also held on Saturday 3rd September 2011. The EDL protest assembled at a pub outside Liverpool Street Station and were then escorted by police to outside Aldgate Station, where the static EDL protest was held. The EDL was then escorted by riot police, mounted police and police vans away and across Tower Bridge, where they were dispersed. There were several scuffles with the police during the day, and some journalists were assaulted. Including, Jules Mattsson who is pictured in this set being treated by a police medic for minor burns after his t-shirt was set on fire by EDL members, while he was working.
