Effect of weightlessness on cell division. 1965 images showing the stages of cell division in a fertilised egg from a black sea urchin (Arbacia lixula, top left). Cell division like this was studied during the Gemini-Titan 3 space-flight of 23rd March 1965 in order to determine if the weightless environment had any abnormal effects on the process of cell division.
