Lawrence or Laurence Saunders d1555), English Protestant martyr, burned for heretical views on transubstantiation, Coventry 8 February 1555. His child brought to visit him in prison. The heresy was that he did not believe that the bread and wine was transformed into the body and blood of Christ when taken at Eucharist (Communion).
