At present as woman she has gaineda respectable emhoiipoint which does not prevent her from stillbeing beautiful. The singers voice is still deep and rich, extraor-dinarily velvety. There is a heart in this voice when she does notseek to force it. Perfect intonation, a tonal subtlety that denotestrue method, sometimes a certain tenderness, sometime^ also aheaviness: in fact a superb mezzo-soprano, who should not havebeen turned into a contralto. A good musician, she handles equallywell the pencil and the brush. She and her husband are a modelfamily, but a restless, suspicious couple, always imagining that theyare under criticism, often complaining of the
