Monastery of Varlaam in the Kalambaka and Meteores region, a geological formation in northern Greece, in the regional district of Trikala, Thessaly, in the Penee valley on 9 February 2023. The Meteores mountains are home to Orthodox Christian monasteries perched atop cliffs sculpted by erosion. The site has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1988. Le Monastere de Varlaam dans la region de Kalambaka et des Meteores, formation geologique du nord de la Grece, dans le district regional de Trikala, en Thessalie, dans la vallee du Penee le 9 fevrier 2023. Les montagnes de meteores abritent des monasteres chretiens orthodoxes perches au sommet de falaises, sculptes par l erosion. Le site est inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l UNESCO depuis 1988.
