Turkey, Istanbul, the Basilica Cistern, a head of Medusa, turned upside down in one of the hundreds columns.

Among the 336 columns of the Basilica Cistern (also know as "Underground Palace" or "Sunken Palace- "Yerebatan Sarayi" in turkish), probably this one, with the reversed head of Medusa in its base is the most "famous" one. It probably belonged to an earlier, ancient or Roman structure of temple, somewhere in Asia Minor.
