A shashka M 1881 for officers of the Russian dragoons So-called "golden weapon", awarded for bravery. Fullered single-edged blade with double-edged point. The ricasso struck with maker's mark "Zlatoust" and date "1851" or "1857". Brass knuckle-bow hilt with traces of gilding and Cyrillic engraving "For Bravery" on both sides of the cross-guard. Leather-covered wood scabbard, brass mounts with floral decoration. Blade somewhat stained. Length 88 cm. Attached (slightly damaged) sword-knot of the Order of St. George.
