Bristol Harbour was the original Port of Bristol. Increasing size of ships and container trade saw dock activity move to the Bristol Channel. The Floating Harbour in the City Centre was constructed from 1804. Regeneration from the 1980's refashioned the harbour as a centre of culture leisure tourism and housing.
