After experimentingwith these things, I am thoroughly convinced there ismoney in it. I am preparing large pastures, and am nowbuying all the cattle I can, with a view of feeding ona larger scale. I know of a gentleman in Illinois whohas just invested in a large tract of land in the TensasRiver swamp, is fencing it, and will put 600 head ofcattle in it at once. In regard to feeding horses and mules while athard work, I have had splendid success with cut oats, ground corn and peas mixed, two parts of corn to oneof peas. I would advise all farmers to raise plenty ofoats and feed less corn. I cut my oats with a largeensilage cutter, and use a three-horse tread power. Inregard to raising mules, I think I can safely say it is asuccess. I have them from sucking colts to five yearsold, and am pleased with the experiment. I have nine-teen colts this year. 50.
