26/11/15 The sails are removed from Britain's only working six-sailed stone windmill. Restoration work will continue over winter after wet rot was discovered in the beams supporting the sails at Heage Windmill, near Belper in Derbyshire. As well as replacing the supporting beams that stretch as far as the mill's fantail, the sails will also be restored and painted. To date £22,000 has been raised towards an expected cost of £80,000. The windmill first ran in 1797 and continued to mill commercially until it was struck by lightning in 1919. It is expected to re-open by Easter 2016.
