Pasteurella multocida culture. Petri dish containing a nutrient medium that has been used to culture a microbe which has been identified as the bacterium Pasteurella multocida. This bacterium causes blood poisoning (or septicaemia), and is found in the upper respiratory tracts of many animals. It can be transmitted to humans by a bite. It is cultured on blood agar, a nutrient agar enriched with blood for bacterial growth.
