View SE of Dragon Hill & the Uffington White Horse (L), The Manger coombe & Uffington Castle hillfort (centre), Oxfordshire, England, UK. Once thought to be an Iron Age tribal symbol or more recent memorial, the carving has been archaeologically dated to the Bronze Age. The hillfort dates from the Late Bronze Age around the 7th century BC. Dragon Hill is the flat-topped mound far L where St George is reputed to have slain the dragon. The White Horse lies within a great prehistoric funerary complex in use for some 4000 years from around 3500BC.
