ELECTRICITY If a bar of soft iron be wrapped with insulated wire (wire coveredwith a nonconductor) and a current of electricity be sent through thewire, the iron bar becomes magnetized while the current passes throughthe conductor, but loses its magnetism when the current ceases to a magnet is called an electro-magnet. If the current besent through the conductor in the opposite direction to that shown in thediagram, polarity of the magnet will be changed: the north pole willbecome the south pole and the south pole the north
